The Analyst Program. The Lazard Middle Market financial analyst program is an intensive two-year training program after which participants
move on to graduate school or pursue other career opportunities. In the case of demonstrated exceptional performance and potential, Lazard Middle
Market may extend such analyst’s program for an additional year.
Responsibilities. The financial analyst serves as a key member of the deal team, working with a managing director and a middle level
investment banker. The analyst will be given significant responsibility and will receive client exposure, deal experience, and an understanding
of transaction structures. In most M&A assignments, the analyst assists in the following:
- Preparation of new business presentations
- Business research
- Valuation analysis
- Improving the quantitative quality and timelines of all client-related work
- Preparation of Confidential Offering Memoranda
- Spreadsheet, business plan, budget and forecast preparation and analysis
Analysts at Lazard Middle Market do not specialize in particular industries, but rather gain a broad-based knowledge of many industries.
Qualifications. Qualified candidates typically possess a combination of the following attributes:
- Strong undergraduate academic performance (3.5 GPA or better)
- Background in accounting, finance, or economics preferred but not required
- Strong writing skills, as evidenced by writing samples
- Ability to work a demanding schedule
- Highly motivated with a strong desire to be the “best of the best”
